Jim Carrey knows the secret...

The message contained in the movie "The Secret" has definitely changed my life forever...in fact, it has changed your life too, as you are now reading what I have to say. Nevertheless, there are people who doubt that the law of attraction (the main message from "The Secret") actually works. With all of the examples of successful people who have used the law of attraction, I find it impossible to deny that it exists. Have you ever heard of Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods, or Jim Carrey. These are just a few of the people who attribute their success to knowing "the secret", the law of attraction. Of course they didn't learn it from the movie, but rather picked it up from some other source.

Since Jim Carrey's new movie "Number 23" just came out, I thought I would take some examples from his life. Jim Carrey has talked about his use of visualization a number of times. When he lived in LA, before he was famous, at the end of the day he would drive himself up into the mountains around Los Angeles and visualize his life exactly as he wanted it to be. Specifically he would visualize himself as the biggest star in hollywood. He would not allow himself to drive back down the hill until he absolutely believed, and felt that he had accomplished everything he wanted. He has talked about how wonderful he would feel driving back down the mountain. Was he using the law of attraction? YES. He focused on exactly what he wanted, until it became a belief fueled by positive emotion. His life then began to move in the direction of his beliefs.

In 1990, again before Jim Carrey was famous, he wrote himself a check for 10 million dollars for "acting services rendered", postdated Thanksgiving, 1995. He made a total of $800,000 for "The Mask" and "Ace Ventura Pet Detective". After the tremendous success of those two movies, he was paid 7 million for "Dumb and Dumber". Now for the amazing part. Just before Thanksgiving 1995 he signed a 10 million dollar contract. Coincidence? I think not. Again, by writing the check for 10 million dollars, he was convincing himself that he already had the money. He was focusing his attention on EXACTLY what he wanted, and even set a date for it's accomplishment.

The moral of the story is not that everyone should go out and write checks to themselves. Yes, this can certainly be a useful strategy, but the important part is that you do everything you can to make yourself believe that your thoughts will become reality. In addition, it is essential that these thoughts be emotionally charged. Why? Because a thought without emotion attached is unlikely to move you to any action. If Jim Carrey hadn't of believed with every ounce of his soul that he could be a successful actor, then he wouldn't have been one. Why would he have even tried if he didn't think he would be successful.

When it comes down to it, people will act on their beliefs, not on any single fleeting thought, because beliefs are thoughts without doubt. If you believe something, you don't have any doubt in your mind that it is true...if you did you would probably say that you "think" it is true. You can install the beliefs you want to act on through consistent thinking. If you think about something over and over again, and add emotion to it, eventually it will become a belief. You will act on your beliefs, and you will filter out the things that don't fit with those beliefs. This is the law of attraction. It worked quite well for Jim Carrey and it will work for you as well. So start believing!
