Our Purpose and Our Children

I believe that being a parent that focuses on the well-being of his or her children is one of the greatest purposes in life that we as humans can fulfill. As for our purpose with others...I remember hearing in church one day...some people plant seeds...some people water...and some harvest. I guess that we never really know at which stage we might come into the life of another. You may plant a seed that isn't watered for years. Then suddenly at some time of need, someone may remember the words you spoke and start thinking good thoughts again. Others may water, and yet others may help bring in the harvest from seeds that you planted years ago. I guess only God knows...and we may never know all the answers to those questions about our purpose in life. I had two wonderful grandparents who lived a very simple life, yet they taught me to value people and not things. This is a teaching that will live with me forever. Sometimes the world may not understand nor agree when we place the value of a person over material things, but we know in our hearts what we really need to do. Never be afraid to endure criticism for a choice that you know you must make. At the end of the day, when you lay your head down on your pillow, you and God know where your heart is. That is all that matters.
