You Get What You Expect, Good or Bad, So Start Expecting Good Things

How many times have you had the experience of getting something you "just knew would happen?"  It usually happens with the things we focus on a lot - whether we want it or not.  When you say to yourself over and over again in the morning, "I don't want to be late" - you're usually late!  And you're expecting to be late.  If you don't want to be late, just say "I want to be on time" - this will keep you more relaxed and more likely to be on time!  When you repeat anything to yourself over and over, it slips into your subconscious mind and you start to believe it and expect it.  It's easy to recognize the negative events that you "predicted would happen."  How about, "I knew they would be sold out," "I knew I shouldn't have trusted him," "I knew something was going to go wrong at the party," etc.?  So how did you know before hand, or how do you know that you didn't make it happen by focusing so much on it?  If you're skeptical that you created it, that's ok - you don't have to believe it, but you can experiment with expecting things you do want to happen instead.  What do you have to lose?  Most people are just afraid of getting hurt or being let down, so they prepare themselves for disappointment and often lead a mediocre life in the process.  But what if you say "to he** with it - I want this to happen but if it doesn't, so what!? If it doesn't, then it'll just be something better than what I wanted?"  Ask yourself, what's the worst that could happen here?  Let's say I want to get a promotion at my current job, but I've been afraid I'm not good enough to get one, so I tell my family and friends that I wouldn't want a promotion because I like my current responsibilities (even though it's a lie).  Well I'm never going to get a promotion with that attitude.  So what if I had the attitude of wanting a promotion openly, but in a detached way?  Not, "man I really need this promotion," but "yeah, I want a promotion, but I'd be happy either way, and if I decide I don't like my current job and they won't give me a promotion - I've got value and someone else will want to hire me."  What's the worst that could happen with that attitude?  You probably would not get fired, but maybe you quit since they wouldn't give you a promotion.  But you know you have value and that someone else will hire you.  But maybe they don't pay as much but you need to take the job because you need the money right away.  Well, then you approach that job with the same positive attitude.  Remember, "A quitter never wins, and a winner never quits" - Henry Ford.  Where there's a will there's a way - with the right attitude you can always get what you want.  So start thinking about what you want and not what you don't want - start expecting good things in your life, you probably have already seen that you get what you expect, so only expect what you want or better!

sorry, mis-quote...

Sorry, Napoleon Hill said, "A quitter never wins and a winner never quits," not Henry Ford.
