San Antonio School Needs Technology
Hey guys. Im a technology teacher with the san antonio school for inquiry and creativity. We serve a large number of low-income, at risk students. The kids are great. They have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. They also all seem to have this overwhelming urge to participate in community initiatives. It blows my mind because here they are...in need themselves, and yet they still want to help others. Ok, so here's my request.... We met up with another teacher from California over the summer who has a class that is using technology to create videos and presentations on events happening in their area. For example, some kids went to an Indian reservation where toxic waste was being dumped and reported on it. The kids are now involved in getting together petitions for their city council. GREAT PROJECT. I would love for my kids to be able to a) do something similar here, and b) communicate with the students in California. So what I need is webcams and digital recorders/cameras. Anything will do. The technology budget at school has taken a hit this year because our school was robbed of computers and televisions last year. Replacing these items has put any new technology equip purchases on the back burner. If anyone reading this can help, I would really appreciate it. Please email me or call if you can help, 210-440-5355 or plaughermomma@yahoo.com. I promise all donations will help further a worth while cause and be greatly appreciated by some students who have a desire to make their world a better place. Thank you in advance.
